Dave & LaShawn Montoya
Dave and LaShawn Montoya have been married and in ministry together for over 30 years. They met while in college at UC Davis, married in 1988 and after graduation left for a 3 year, short-term mission to Dublin, Ireland with Greater Europe Mission, doing university evangelism on various college campuses. They returned to Davis in 1993 and Dave became the college pastor at their college church, First Baptist Church. LaShawn did discipleship with college women, homeschooled their kids, and was a part-time children’s director at FBC. They moved to Paradise, CA in 2003 and Dave served at Paradise Alliance Church for 15 years as the Adult Ministries Pastor, and LaShawn served as the Children’s Director for 12 of those years. In 2018-19 they spent a little over a year at a large CMA church in Nebraska… long enough to discover that there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME! Dave and LaShawn returned to the area in September of 2019, and excited to build a community and family of faith called Northstate Community Church! Dave loves CS Lewis, free food, movies, talking, and reading. He is a sucker for a good conversation and will get nothing done if people are in front of him! LaShawn loves taking walks, painting, coffee with friends, movies and vacations anywhere near water. She does everything at warp speed, but is slowly and surely learning the value of just BEING and not always DOING (Martha and Mary, anyone?). Her spiritual gifts are exhortation, hospitality and administration.
Caleb & Becky Cox
Caleb and Becky Cox have been in ministry for nearly 20 years and have two girls, Jenna, and Bella. They met at Simpson University, graduating with degrees in ministry, and married in 2005. Caleb served in Kelso, Washington for 7 years as an associate pastor overseeing the youth and worship ministries. In 2013 they moved to Paradise, California, and served as the worship pastor. In 2020 they joined with Dave and LaShawn to help lead the Northstate plant. Caleb loves talking theology, finding God in movies, studying bushcraft, and plays a number of musical instruments. Becky loves coffee dates, having people over for dinner, leading worship, and quality time with her family. They both are loving this season of ministry with Northstate Community Church.
Connor Cline, Youth Director
Connor and Megan Cline met during high school in Paradise, CA in 2014, and have been married since May of 2019. Connor studied at Liberty University while volunteering with Megan in the Middle School ministry at Paradise Alliance Church for 4 years. They joined Northstate Community Church in late 2019, and have been learning what it means to do ministry with the Montoya’s and the Cox’s. In May of 2020, Connor graduated with a degree in Biblical Theology & Counseling.
Connor loves sports, gaming, music, having deep conversations about scripture, and sharing meals with others. Megan loves entertaining, meeting new people, coffee dates, children, and reading. They both feel very blessed to be raising their son Oliver together, and to be a part of the Northstate family. They are particularly passionate about seeing middle and high school students raised up in a loving church family.
